Today marks half way through the third session and we are currently enjoying our All Camp Day with a late start, bagels, and donuts. This session has been jam packed with fun activities and lots of cooling off, whether that was hopping in the lake during the hot summer days or enjoying time out on the lake.
Some awesome activities we’ve been doing have been lots of different
hikes including the 1000 steps hike, climbing, SUP and sail, sports (soccer, volleyball, kickball,
softball, ultimate frisbee, and tennis), biking, canoeing, art studio, and frisbee golf + pizza oven!
So far we have had two sets of overnights go out including a wakeboard overnight and a
canoeing overnight! On the wakeboarding overnight, we had a bit of rain, but the campers all
got to go out on the boat and work on their skills on the wakeboard, water skis, and kneeboard.
Our canoeing overnight had a nice, chill float down the Juniata River on a beautiful day.
Our bike masters have been spending lots of time out on the Allegrippis trails, our own SMA
bike trail, and the skills park. They’ve been building new jumps out at the SMA trails and the
loop over at the Cadillac Ranch. Wake masters have been doing awesome out on the lake and
there have been lots of cool tricks and jumps out there. And horse masters have been getting to spend lots of time in the ring working on improving their skills.
After dinner most nights, we’ve been doing lots of different evening activities. The first few days, we hung out around camp playing Jud Games in the front yard, held a crazy Invention
Convention in the barn, and last night we got to go disco bowling for the first time in a few years. We all wore bunk junk and there were lots of strikes! When the overnights were out, campers that stayed behind watched movies and played more wacky Jud Games.
Today after breakfast, the campers are working on cleaning their cabins and creating some
great skits that fit our theme of if SMA was a musical. After lunch, we’re all going to head out to
the Greenwood Furnace and spend the afternoon hanging out and having a Spike Ball
tournament followed by a barbeque.
We are also have some campers headed out to do the Allen Seager Hike and some extreme climbing down at the rocks. Tonight’s evening activity is small group candle light ceremonies where campers will have the opportunity to reflect on what has been done and accomplished so far at camp and also set some goals to make the rest of camp the best week ever!
