Stone Mountain Adventures director Jud Millarwill be attending the Greenwhich High School Summerfare, in Greenwhich, CT next week. SMA will be one of many summer camps for teenagers that will be represented at the camp fair. Other types of programs that will be attending include day camps, wilderness trips and international programs with a focus on language immersion, community service and/or cultural exchange.
A camp fair usually takes place in a school cafeteria or gym and there are representative from 40 to 60 camps that have a booth thee. Camp fairs make it easy for parents to sort through the many camp choices. There are usually many different types of camps that are represented including:
Camp fairs are free events that take place on weekends and bring dozens of camps straight to parents, allowing them to have one-on-one conversations with many camp directors all within a few hours of time.
Families are not expected to sign up for camp at the camp fair. A fair is a great opportunity to collect information, talk to camp directors, and then go home and and do more research before making a decision. Some camps also provide references of families who live in your area so that you can call families that have had first-hand experience with the camps.
