

Internship Overview
This internship is designed for students studying Outdoor Recreation, Leadership, Parks and Recreation, or Outdoor Education. Participants will engage in both direct camper interaction and behind-the-scenes operations, gaining a holistic understanding of what it takes to run a successful overnight summer camp.
Internship Dates:June 10th to August 20th with possible early arrival or late departure if interested.
Camp Counselor and Activity Instructor:
Lead and assist in outdoor adventure activities, including:

- Rock climbing
- Mountain biking
- White-water rafting
- Wakeboarding and Water Skiing
- Canoeing and Kayaking
- Hiking
- Fishing
- Overnight Camping
- Community Service Projects
- Facilitate leadership and team-building exercises.
- Supervise and mentor campers, fostering a positive and inclusive camp environment.
- Assist in creating daily schedules and ensuring activity safety standards are met.
Administrative Tasks
- Learn and assist with administrative responsibilities such as:
- Managing camper registrations and check-in processes.
- Communicating with parents via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
- Assist in coordinating community service projects with local agencies.
- Including scheduling and maintaining communication with partner organizations
- Supporting logistical planning for daily and overnight activities.

Leadership Development
- Participate in leadership workshops focused on:
- Conflict resolution
- Decision-making
- Risk management in outdoor settings
- Shadow camp directors and senior staff to gain insights into managing camp operations.

Personal & Professional Growth
- Develop valuable skills in:
- Outdoor education and activity facilitation
- Team collaboration and leadership
- Time management and organization
- Receive mentorship from experienced camp professionals.
Learning Outcomes
- Gain practical experience in outdoor adventure programming and facilitation.
- Develop a deeper understanding of behind-the-scenes camp administration.
- Build confidence and leadership skills by working with teens in a dynamic, outdoor setting.

Qualifications
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a program in Outdoor Recreation, Leadership, Parks and Recreation, or Outdoor Education.
- Enthusiasm for working with teenagers in an outdoor environment.
- Ability to lead or assist in outdoor activities such as:
- Rock climbing
- Mountain biking
- White-water rafting
- Wakeboarding and Water Skiing
- Canoeing and Kayaking
- Hiking
- Fishing
- Overnight Camping
- Community Service Projects
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
