Our Horsemaster Program is designed for the rider looking to dedicate a large portion of his/her summer toward improving riding skills. Riding for Horsemaster campers is offered every morning. We avoid riding in the afternoons due to the heat and humidity and the strain that this can cause the horses. You will have your choice of our many Adventure Activities, Water Sports, Traditional Sports or Creative Arts in the afternoon.
Horsemaster Campers also learn about stable management including:
Beginner riders develop skills and confidence and learn to be comfortable handling and caring for horses. Advanced riders are challenged on the flat, over fences, on the trail, or on lunge lines while learning new skills from seasoned Horseback Riding Instructors. Balanced seat is taught to all riders in order to develop a strong, effective seat doing flat work. Horsemaster riders may focus on jumping, cross-country, or dressage. This is a personalized, fun program limited to 12 campers. Please note that campers not enrolled in the Horsemaster Program will have the opportunity to ride a horse during their time at SMA.
“I love everything about the Horsemasters Program. At home I only get to ride a few days a week, but here I get to ride every day! The instructors are so awesome and down to earth, I have gained so much confidence. I can’t wait to come back next summer!
Rose, Solomons, MD
“I love being at a camp with an incredible riding program where I can focus my energy on riding, but it’s not a riding camp and everyone’s not a rider. There are kids here just as excited about rock climbing or mountain biking as I am about riding. Plus, when I’m not riding I can do all those other activities like White Water Rafting and Ultimate Frisbee!”
Nina, New York City, NY
The Wakemasters Program is for campers who are excited about the thrill of wakeboarding or waterskiing and serious about improving their skills. Participants can ski up to three sessions per week and may participate in one specialized clinic. Experienced instructors will assist campers in:
Beginner Wakeboarders and Water Skiers will learn to be comfortable riding behind the boat while developing skills and confidence. Intermediate and advanced riders will learn from experienced instructors and other campers and be challenged to take their riding to the next level. As a member of the Wakemaster Program you are part of a team that is serious about skill development and even more serious about fun. To ensure quality, this program is limited to eight campers per session. Please note that campers not enrolled in the Wakemasters Program will receive ample time to Wakeboard and Water Ski during their time at SMA. SMA is one of many overnight summer camps for teenagers!
"I can’t believe how much I improved at wakeboarding this session. I never thought I could clear the wake, do a 180 or ride switch! Thanks to the SMA Wakeboard Instructors and the team of campers I now have so much confidence, I feel like I can do anything!”
Ari, Bound Brooke, NJ
“I love everything about the Wakemasters Program because I love being on the water every day! Raystown Lake is so beautiful and the water is just the right temperature – whether I’m riding the silky smooth water of early morning or cruising in the bow of the boat with my friends, I love it all!"
Alice, Neuilly dur Seine, FRANCE
The Mountain Bike Masters Program allows campers to ride single track trails every morning and choose from our other activities in the afternoon. The sport of Mountain Biking is exploding in central PA with the building of the Allegrippis Trail system at Raystown Lake. The Allegrippis Trail was designed and built by the International Mountain Biking Association (IMBA) and consists of 30+ miles of single track trails in connected loops of three to five miles. The trails have been called “buttery smooth single track bliss” and consist of features including rollers, “whoopdy doos,” jumps and banked turns. Campers enrolled in the Mountain Bike Masters Program will learn:
This program is ideal for campers who are excited about riding world class single track trails on a daily basis. Campers are welcome to bring their own bike or ride one of ours. The Mountain Bike Masters Program is open to beginner to advanced skill levels, however, riders should feel comfortable riding single track trails. To ensure quality, this program is limited to six campers. Please note that campers not enrolled in the Mountain Bike Masters Program will get ample time to Mountain Bike during their time at SMA.
“I had never really ridden single track until I came to SMA , and after riding the Allegrippis trail this session I can’t wait to get back to France and build some rollers!”
Hadrian, Villeneuve Loubet, FRANCE
“The best way I can describe the Allegrippis Trail is like riding a rollercoaster on your bike! There are no killer climbs or huge down hills. The trails follow the contours of the land and there are super fun features everywhere!”
Aaron, Stoughton, MA
