Pam Hayes-Houldin co-founded Stone Mountain Adventures in 1983 with her husband (my dad) Biff. Since then, Pam has been the Equestrian and Horsemasters Director at camp.

A Little Bit of “Herstory”

Pam has been a horse lover her entire life. She grew up on a dairy farm in “Big Valley” (where the Amish Market is) named “The Heide” as the second oldest of six children (two boys and four girls). Her first love was showing cows, which she did with some success at Harrisburg Farm Show and eventually to Chicago.

Pam’s father Reed Hayes had a deep love for horses and competed in “Harness Racing” when Pam was a child. State College Day CampAll of us at Stone Mountain Adventures (SMA) are excited about our Horseback Riding Day Camp.  This riding focused day camp is open to ages 11 to 16.  This day camp is designed to be fun and challenging and is open to beginners through advanced riders.
Campers will participate in riding lessons and learn about stable management.  Additional opportunities include:
  • Clinics
  • Vaulting
  • Being a part of the stable management team to help feed and care for the horses.

New call-to-actionWith several qualified instructors, beginning riders develop skills and confidence while advanced riders are challenged on the flat, over fences on the trails, or on a lunge line. Balanced seat is taught to all riders in order to develop a strong, effective seat doing flat work. Campers may then focus on dressage, jumping, or cross-country. This is a very personalized, day camp.
