Fri, Dec 26, 2025

At Stone Mountain Adventures (SMA), our water sports program is one of the most exciting parts of summer. Teens dive into the thrills of wakeboarding and water skiing, building confidence, strength, and coordination while having a blast on the water.

Why Teens Love Wakeboarding and Water Skiing at SMA

SMA provides a safe and supportive environment for teens to learn or improve their water sports skills. Whether they are beginners or experienced athletes, campers enjoy:

  • Wakeboarding: Teens practice balance, agility, and technique while gliding across the water and learning tricks.

  • Water Skiing: Our instructors teach proper form, helping teens gain speed, control, and confidence on skis.

Every session combines fun with skill-building, allowing campers to challenge themselves while celebrating their successes with friends.

As the holiday season surrounds us with warmth and cheer, all of us at Stone Mountain Adventures (SMA) are taking a moment to reflect on the incredible summer of 2025. From adventurous trails to peaceful lakes, from spirited team games to creative art projects, our campers and staff made this summer unforgettable.

Celebrating Memories from Summer 2025

Summer 2025 was filled with teen adventures and personal growth. Our campers explored trails through hiking and mountain biking, challenged themselves on the rock climbing walls, and enjoyed water sports from wakeboarding to canoeing. Beyond the activities, campers developed friendships, confidence, and life-long memories that we’ll treasure for years to come.

The energy, curiosity, and courage of our teens made summer 2025 truly special. Whether it was overnight camping under the stars, creating in the art studio, or recording podcasts about their adventures, every moment reflected the spirit of SMA—a place where teens grow, explore, and thrive.

Finding Your Line: How SMA Riders Learn to Read the Trail Ahead

Mountain Biking Skills at Our Mountain Biking Summer Camp

Mountain biking isn’t just about speed or strength—it’s about vision, timing, and making smart choices on the trail. At Stone Mountain Adventures Mountain Biking Summer Camp, we teach our campers that the key to confident riding is learning to “find your line.” This essential skill doesn’t just improve performance—it builds focus, confidence, and decision-making abilities that extend far beyond the trail.

What Does “Finding Your Line” Mean?

In mountain biking, your “line” is the path you choose through a section of trail. A good line avoids obstacles, maximizes momentum, and allows you to ride smoothly and safely. A poor line can lead to slow descents, unexpected crashes, or unnecessary effort.

At SMA, teaching campers to read the trail ahead is one of the core skills in our Mountain Biking Masters Program. Riders learn to analyze terrain, anticipate turns, and pick the path that works best for their abilities.

Climbing teaches teens to trust themselves and their abilities. At SMA, our experienced instructors guide campers safely through each route, helping them learn problem-solving, focus, and resilience. Every summit achieved, no matter how small, gives teens a sense of accomplishment that carries into other areas of life.

What Mountain Biking Teaches Teens About Courage (On and Off the Trail)

Life Lessons from Our Teen Mountain Biking Camp & MTB Masters Program

When most people think of mountain biking, they picture speed, dirt, and adrenaline. And while those moments absolutely exist, what often goes unseen is the quiet courage developing beneath every pedal stroke. At Stone Mountain Adventures Teen Mountain Biking Camp, and especially within our Mountain Biking Masters Program, courage isn’t just a skill—it’s a practice.

Mountain biking teaches lessons that last far beyond the trail. Here’s how this sport helps teens discover courage in ways that shape their confidence, character, and everyday lives.

1. Courage Begins with Showing Up

Before any rider tackles singletrack or learns to corner at speed, they make one brave choice: they show up. For many teens, arriving at a teen mountain biking camp means stepping outside their comfort zone—new people, new challenges, and new terrain.

In our MTB Masters Program, campers quickly learn that courage doesn’t require fearless leaps; it starts with being willing to try.

Happy Thanksgiving from the SMA Teen Camp Family!

Posted by Jud Millar

Thu, Nov 27, 2025

The week of Thanksgiving always reminds us just how much we have to be grateful for. For all of us at Stone Mountain Adventures (SMA), this season is a chance to reflect on the privilege we have—to play a meaningful role in the lives of our campers, families, and staff. It’s a responsibility we cherish.

Here at camp, it’s been a full and lively autumn. We started September catching our breath and reminiscing about an incredible summer. Our son Wyatt—former camper, last summer’s AOP, and now officially a Westerner—transferred from Indiana University of PA to the University of Utah, and this was his first semester there. He’s loving life in the mountains and embracing every part of the adventure. Our daughter Molly—also a former camper and our breakfast cook these past two summers—is now a junior at Huntingdon High School and continuing her impressive run as the starting keeper for the girls’ soccer team. Earlier this fall we also traveled west to celebrate my brother Troy’s wedding to Emma—a beautiful weekend surrounded by family, mountains, and memories.

Our summer wrapped up with a bang during Session 4! From August 4 to 16, SMA was buzzing with energy as campers made the most of every single day. Even though it was the final session of the summer, the excitement never faded—every mountain bike ride, climbing trip, and campfire brought fresh joy and connection. This group showed us the magic that happens when teens embrace adventure and friendship with open hearts.

Campers, you gave us the perfect ending to an incredible summer. We loved watching the way you supported each other, shared laughter, and pushed yourselves to make the most of every moment. Even in just two weeks, you showed us that camp magic is alive and well—thank you for reminding us why we do what we do. We hope those memories keep you smiling as you step into the year ahead.

Parents, we are so grateful you entrusted us with your teens during this final session of SMA 2025. Session 4 was full of strong personalities, incredible kindness, and a sense of adventure that made our community so vibrant. We saw campers step into leadership, build meaningful friendships, and gain independence—all of which reflect the values and encouragement they’ve received at home. Thank you for making it possible for them to be here.

On the final day of the session, we asked each camper to take a moment to reflect on their experience at SMA. Enclosed in this Memory Book you’ll find those reflections, along with highlights of the activities we shared, written by our incredible staff team. These words and stories capture the magic of the summer and remind us why camp is such a powerful experience for young people.

White Water Rafting Was AWESOME in SMA4 Overnight Camp!!

Posted by Jud Millar

Fri, Aug 15, 2025

There’s nothing like a Stone Mountain Adventures rafting day, and on August 14, 2025, our Session 4 crew proved it once again!

We woke up bright and early (okay, some of us were still a little sleepy), grabbed a quick cold breakfast to fuel up, and piled into the vans. The excitement was buzzing before we even hit the road. Our destination? Ohiopyle, PA — home of the mighty Youghiogheny River (locals call it The Yough… pros like us just say it with a grin).

When we rolled into town, our friends at Wilderness Voyagers were ready for us. Helmets, paddles, life jackets — check. A super-thorough safety briefing — check. Enough adrenaline to power a small city — double check!

Then we launched into a day of epic rapids, splash fights, teamwork, and that magical mix of sunshine and river spray. We laughed, we paddled hard, we got soaked… and we loved every second.

By the time we hit the take-out, there was no doubt — we had truly saved the best for last. Session 4, you absolutely crushed it out there!
