What is a Camp Fair?
A camp fair usually takes place in a school cafeteria or gym and there are representative from 40 to 60 camps that have a booth thee. Camp fairs make it easy for parents to sort through the many camp choices. There are usually many different types of camps that are represented including:
- Day Camps
- Overnight Camps for kids of all ages
- Co-ed overnight camps for teens
- Wilderness trips
- International program with a focus on language immersion, community service and/or cultural exchange
Camp fairs are free events that take place on weekends and bring dozens of camps straight to parents, allowing them to have one-on-one conversations with many camp directors all within a few hours of time.
Are you expected to sign up for camp at a camp fair?
Families are not expected to sign up for camp at the camp fair. A fair is a great opportunity to collect information, talk to camp directors, and then go home and and do more research before making a decision. Some camps also provide references of families who live in your area so that you can call families that have had first-hand experience with the camps.
