We Played Polebarn this morning at SMA Summer Camp

Posted by Jud Millar on Tue, Jul 26, 2022

Today is the second full day of activities of SMA Session 3, 2022.  We started our day with egg burritos for breakfast followed by a "crew" meeting outside the staff office.  We then sent our crews with tie crew leaders to s specific location in camp to play A super-fun icebreaker game called: POLEBARN!!

After that crew did their morning chores and then departed for morning activities:

  • Rock Climbing
  • Art Studio
  • Horsemasters
  • Softball and Swim
  • Wakeboat Fun
  • Mountain Bike Masters

Here are photos of our crews (chore groups):

Camper reflections- Session 1- 2006

This is my third year and sadly my last one – I hope I could come back but I will always remember the amazing times I had during this session. From the amazing times I spent horseback riding and going to tennis, to the awesome talks in my bunk I have nothing to regret… Everything was amazing!

What can I say about SMA Summer Camp that hasn’t been said before? Words to describe this place are endless: amazing, wonderful, nirvana, heaven on earth, beautiful, sheer perfection. All I have to say to you people is that places like SMA are few and far between, so when you’re here live every day like it is your last. I will always have a special place in my heart for SMA Summer Camp and all of the unique, empowered people here. I love you all more than you can imagine and I promise I won’t forget any of you. So remember the good times, “dance like no one is watching, sing like no one is listening, live every day as if there won’t be tomorrow.”

Peace guys,

-David Brandt

It is my first year at SMA Summer Camp and I don’t think that it’s the last. I made myself a lot of friends. My English got clearly better. Thank you for this three weeks spent with you. See you next year.

This year was amazing. Being new, I wasn’t quite sure how people would treat me. But everyone was sooo nice! I remember the first day when Josh & David came to talk to us, saying not to clique together as a cabin. (From then on we were known as the Right Girls clique.) It was so much fun meeting everyone. I’ve never talked to a French person before camp – one more thing I accomplished! I’ve never been waterskiing or rock climbing or even never played ultimate Frisbee. The dance was amazing and camp was overall awesome. I’ll be back next year.
