We are all living in uncertain times. COVID19 has altered every aspect of our lives as we all shelter in place and practice social distancing. Social connection is still important to all of us and it has been incredible to see how many people in our Stone Mountain Adventures family took time to dig out their favorite SMA T-shirt and post it online. Check out this video #smaTshirtWeek:

The first element that makes SMA special is its size. A small community is created that allows you to open yourself up to others and feel comfortable taking risks. By the end of camp I felt like I could trust any of the campers to support me. This trust is built over the course of camp through a number of different activities. For me, the main activity that helped me to build trust was rock climbing. During the first days of camp we all learned how to belay each other and the correct ways to climb. Then during the rest of the session, we belayed each other while rock climbing. This creates a level of trust between campers through knowing you won’t be dropped on the rocks. This feeling of trust spreads throughout camp, creating an environment that becomes like a family. SMA taught me to be more outgoing and not afraid to trust people in every type of way.
